
Rev. Fr. Paul Mung’athia Igweta
Rev. Fr. Mung’athia was ordained as Priest of the Diocese of Meru in 2004. He was previously a teacher at St. Joseph Meru Major Seminary in Nairobi. Fr. Mung’athia holds a Master of Arts degree in Justice and Peace and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy in Social Transformation with a specialization in Governance at Tangaza University College
Fr. Mung’athia spent several years serving in different parishes and as coordinator of the Department of Integral Human Development at the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA), which includes the Catholic Bishops Conferences of ten countries. In 2018 he was appointed as Coordinator of the Justice Peace & Caritas Department at AMECEA.
Fr. Mung’athia has been particularly active in the fight against human trafficking and modern slavery in East Africa, and in working in partnership with Kenyan dioceses to coordinate pastoral care and assistance for refugees living in camps.
