Mr. Jason Siwat

Papua New Guinea & Solomon Islands

Since 2021, Mr. Siwat has held the post of Director of the Migrants and Refugees Desk at the Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. In this capacity, he works with international organizations, NGOs, and local partners to implement humanitarian programs and assistance for refugees.

Since 2014, Mr. Siwat has worked as a Refugee Status Determination officer and Refugee Case Manager with the government of Papua New Guinea, and as an outreach officer with Caritas Papua New Guinea. He has worked extensively on efforts to achieve durable resettlement to a third country for refugees in Papua New Guinea, and particularly on advocating for refugees in the context of Australia’s ‘offshoring’ asylum policy. He has also provided consultancy services to private companies wishing to improve case management for refugees and asylum seekers.


Mr. Siwat holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Papua New Guinea.
