Appointment of Jared Bloch as Coordinator
of ICMC's Resettlement Deployment Scheme
We are pleased to welcome to ICMC Mr. Jared Bloch, ICMC's new
Resettlement Deployment Scheme Coordinator. Mr. Bloch brings to
this position considerable experience at both ends of the refugee
"pipeline:" working in recent years with ICMC as a deployee
himself in Georgia, Guinea and Hong Kong and during the prior
8 years with refugees resettling in the US. Jared served most
recently as Director of Refugee Resettlement for Catholic Charities
of Central New Mexico, managing a host of programs under contract
with the US Catholic Conference of Bishops and various federal
and state agencies.
Funded by UNHCR, the deployment scheme currently has 30 ICMC
staff working in collaboration with UNHCR in 18 countries. ICMC
has another 130 qualified professionals from 29 countries on its
standby roster for deployment of staff. In 2004, the deployment
scheme selected 14,456 persons for resettlement in 11 countries,
and assisted in the group verification of 19,561 persons.
Jared picks up responsibility for the deployment program from
Ms. Gloria Montanari, who had directed the program on an interim
basis, and will work with Gloria and Ms. Yuka Mizuno in the Geneva
